Life Lessons from an Old Car Battery – The Importance of Regular Testing and Replacement

Once upon a time, in a world where car parts come to life, there lived a quirky and lovable character named Barely-Starts Battery.

Barely-Starts had seen better days, having been around for quite some time and was feeling the effects of age. His good friend, Treadbare Tire, was also showing signs of wear and tear, but the two of them were determined to keep The Driver on the road.

Every time The Driver got in the car, all the car parts, including Barely-Starts and Treadbare, thought they were going on a road trip to “Autopia“. In their minds, “Autopia“ was the greatest place on the planet because it was there that they believed they would gain everlasting life. Little did they know, “Autopia“ was actually your local tire store, Coquille Tire.

On this day, Barely-Starts Battery and Treadbare Tire were sitting in the old car, waiting for The Driver to come and start the engine. The two had been friends for as long as they could remember. The weather was a bit cold, and Barely-Starts was feeling particularly weak. He just knew that starting the car was going to be a struggle.

The Driver showed up, got into the car, and attempted to start it. Barely-Starts struggled valiantly, but he was low on power and just couldn’t do it.

Treadbare Tire, ever the optimistic friend, tried to offer some advice to boost Barely-Starts’ spirit.

“Come on, Barely-Starts, you can do it! You just need to give it all you’ve got,” Treadbare Tire encouraged.

Barely-Starts sighed. “I’ll try, but I just don’t have the power I used to.”

The Driver kept trying to start the car, but Barely-Starts only grew weaker and weaker. Treadbare Tire tried to offer some more words of encouragement, but it was clear that the situation was dire.

Frustrated, The Driver muttered something about missing an important interview and stormed out of the car, slamming the door shut. Treadbare Tire panicked, fearing that the road trip to “Autopia“ would be cancelled.

Barely-Starts felt sorry for himself. The two friends lamented about the situation, worried that they wouldn’t ever make it to “Autopia“ and gain everlasting life.

Suddenly, The Driver returned with the neighbor and a pick-up truck. With the neighbor’s help, they were able to jumpstart the car. The Driver gave his thanks for the rescue and in no time, they were on their way.

Motoring along the road, The Driver talked out loud to himself, “After my interview, I better go and fix this old battery problem before I end up stranded with no one around to help.”

Barely-Starts pipes up, “And you can avoid a ton of wear and tear on the poor starter and alternator too!”

With a chuckle, Treadbare chimes in, “Oh Barely-Starts, you know The Driver can’t hear you.”

“I know, and I just keep trying anyway.”

They make it to The Driver’s interview just in the nick of time, and the two friends share in a sense of relief.

After the interview, they drove to Coquille Tire where The Driver learned important information about his car’s electrical system.

First, continuing to start your car with a low battery will cause premature wear to the starter and alternator.

Second, regular testing and scheduled replacements are the key to preventing problems that might strand you in the future.

Most importantly, you shouldn’t just wait until your battery leaves you stranded because it will always choose the most inconvenient time.

Now, if you are experiencing a slow start situation, don’t procrastinate and end up stranded at the most inconvenient time:

Come on down to Coquille Tire where we treat your car like family.
