Once upon a time, in the whimsical world of animated automobiles, there lived a quirky character named Sir Smears-a-lot. Sir Smears-a-lot was a windshield wiper who spent most of his days on the automobile parked under a couple of trees, patiently waiting for the next adventure. Every now and then, he got to go out for a trip, and today seemed to be one of those days.
As the driver of the automobile started up the car, Sir Smears-a-lot couldn’t contain his excitement. He was convinced that they were going on a road trip to his favorite destination, Autopia. He always found it amusing that the driver referred to Autopia as “Coquille Tire.” Before long, they were on their way, and Sir Smears-a-lot watched with glee as the pine needles and leaves blew loose from under his brave little blade.
However, his excitement turned to panic as it started to rain lightly. The driver turned on the windshield wipers to clear the view, and Sir Smears-a-lot eagerly braced himself for action. But as he moved across the window, he left a blurry mess of muck and debris in his wake, only to smear everything further on the return journey. The driver slowed down and began to veer off the road, and Sir Smears-a-lot started across the window once again, his eyes filled with panic as the car lurched towards the river.
The automobile left the pavement with a crunching noise of gravel, and Sir Smears-a-lot started whimpering about the great wrecking yard in the sky. All he could see was the deep, scary river swiftly approaching. But to his immense relief, the automobile came to a halt right at the river’s edge.
The driver got out of the car and carefully wiped off the surface of Sir Smears-a-lot’s blades with a towel. Soon, they were back on the road, with Sir Smears-a-lot noticing that the driver was still having troubles seeing. But fortunately, they made it to Autopia without further life-threatening problems.
Sir Smears-a-lot had new parts installed and worked like new. He beamed with joy and said, “Now we can go to the Grand Canyon!” As they continued on their adventures, Sir Smears-a-lot learned an important lesson – wipers can collect debris while sitting. This debris can contribute to and accelerate wear and tear on the wiping surface, and once they become damaged, cleaning is not so helpful. Replacing wiper blades on a regular schedule maintains vision and safety.
And so, with a new set of wipers, Sir Smears-a-lot and the driver set off on their next adventure.
